For my research I asked two students, one male and one female, different questions about their opinions on student magazines and what they would like to see in a student magazine.
Question 1:
How would you describe your perfect student magazine?
Amy: Colourful, bold and organised
Matt: A good balance between useful college advice and fun activities to do outside of college
Question 2:
How much would you pay for a student magazine?
Amy: Nothing over £1
Matt: Should be free or very cheap and money should go back into producing guided and advice for the magazine. So like a pound.
Ouestion3:
How could the title/masthead on the magazine catch your eye?
Amy: Being catchy but not ridiculously cliché.
Matt: Bold colours! Contrast, bright colours with black and/ or white.
Question 4:
What sort of images would appeal to you on the cover of a student magazine?
Amy: Probably something comic arty or pop arty.
Matt: Direct mode of address, happy students. Interesting images and some amount of creativity.
Question 5:
What advice would you like to see in a student magazine?
Matt: How to cope with stress!!
Amy: How to bake brownies, learn to skateboard and manage my life!
Matt: Also how to manage time effectively!
Question 6:
What content would you like to see in your student magazine?
Matt: Reviews for films.
Amy: Weird things, like how to impress an interviewer and life advice like how to use a chip fryer, put together bed frame and how to pay taxes and buy a house!
Matt: Also what to do in Ludlow, like places to go with friends.
